What is the Importance of Learning our Mother Tongue Telugu ?
1) Its the 1st language given by our mother from her womb and learning it will be the highest form of respect and reverence given to our mother.
2) Its the language that bonds our families together.
3) Its the language that will instil the rich profound culture, tradition and heritage in us.
4) Its the language that will nurture and instil good moral values in us.
5) Its the language that will preserve our identity.
6) Its the language that will continue our existence and presence in this beautiful land through instilling the importance of learning our mother tongue to the present generation.
7) Scientific research has shown that those who learn their mother tongue alongside other languages perform better academically with enhanced self-esteem.
8) Mother tongue education has reduced social inequalities such as poverty, gender, race/ethnicity, caste or religion – (UNESCO, 2006)
9) Learning our mother tongue will foster greater unity among telugus in Malaysia and abroad.
10) In realising the importance of learning our mother tongue, Telugu Association of Malaysia (TAM) has been providing free Telugu Classes nationwide and to date more than 6,000 students have benefited from these classes.
11) To add on, Telugu Association of Malaysia has affiliated with the Potti Sri Ramulu University in Hyderabad to provide with our students 4 levels of Telugu Language Classes/Examinations namely Praveshika (Level 1), Madyamika (Level 2), Praveena (Level 3) and Visharadha (Level 4).
(12) The sweetness of the Telugu language when spoken, especially by our very own children is truly a treat for the ears and the soul.
Dear parents,
The last thing we want to see is losing our sweet language, our rich culture, tradition and heritage. It has so many benefits and the list above is not exhaustive. Kindly make time and impart the importance of learning our mother tongue to the children of today. The children will not understand the importance at this prime age. As parents, we need to make the decision. The sweetness of the language and the moral values that comes with it will be definitely a strong foundation for them to move on as exemplary citizens of this nation.
Please call your nearest TAM Branch/Class Coordinators and enroll your children now. Please do not miss this golden opportunity to learn our mother tongue.
It’s a humble plea to all parents to make this as part of the new year resolution.
Warmest Regards,
Siva Soorianarayanan
